Duration : 5 Hours
Super-size your transfer from Rome or Rome airport to
the port of Civitavecchia, or vice versa!
This tour has been designed especially for those wanting to maximize
their time pre or post-cruise by visiting the Vatican museums with a private
guide and transfer.
Features of this pre or post-cruise tour of the Vatican:
After being whisked to the Vatican Museums by
your courteous chauffeur you will be met by your expert tour guide who will
escort you on an exclusive 3-hour walking tour through history, antiquities and
art masterpieces.
You will hear amazing stories about the Vatican
itself and the artists who made it the world's richest storehouse of art,
culture and history. Your guide will
show you the most important galleries and works as you make your way to the Sistine Chapel, which thrills visitors with its majesty and
the brilliance of Michelangelo.
With your guide you’ll be able to take the “VIP
back door” into St. Peter’s basilica, avoiding the endless security lines
outside. As you step into the church see
if your jaw doesn’t drop! There is not
an inch of undecorated space in this massive church, which also houses some
priceless works of art, such as Michelangelo’s moving Pietà.
Finally, stroll St. Peter's Square and take in
the magnitude and splendor of the largest church in the world from the
exterior.
Please
remember that all visitors are required to have their shoulders and legs
covered to below the knee when visiting the Vatican City and that the Vatican
Museums are closed on Sundays and religious holidays.
This excursion functions equally well pre or
post-cruise. For a pre-cruise service we can pick you
up at your Rome lodgings or from either of the Rome airports, even a train
station. While for a post-cruise service we will pick you up
at the port of Civitavecchia. In order
to pick you up right at the ship, we recommend the use of minivans, even if your
group is larger than 8 persons.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING TICKETS:
Please be aware that tickets are guaranteed only when booked.
Booking tickets this year has become almost impossible and we’re struggling to find slots available.
The Vatican opens availability 2 months ahead the selected date. We will do our very best to get the admission tickets for you but if by this time we are not able to secure tickets, then those are not guaranteed.
We will have to relay to other suppliers but it’s not guaranteed.
You will be notified in case of lack of unavailability and offered an alternative solution for you to still have a wonderful experience during your visit; for example, instead of the Vatican we can take you to see other beautiful churches in Rome.
We will be able to provide a certain answer regarding availability 7 weeks ahead for the Vatican, in refer to the selected date of your tour.
You will be then free to decide how to move forward with your tour, of course.
This may cause some inconveniences, but we wanted to inform you in advance and be transparent with our customers regarding this whole situation.
Thank you very much for understanding.
