expect from your driver/guide
Our drivers are not licensed guides. They can provide commentary inside
the vehicle only and cannot accompany guests inside monuments as a guide.
For this experience, your driver can assist with logistics and communication
support as described, and we can arrange licensed guides if needed for specific
sites.
Is this tour private?
Yes. The tour is private, just for your party.
What do you need from me to start the ancestry research?
Any details you have help a lot: family surnames, town name, approximate dates, and any documents or stories you know.
Do you really help with translation and speaking with locals?
Yes. We assist with communication in the village (piazzas, cafés, and local contacts) to help you connect and navigate the day.
Can you help us access municipal archives (anagrafe) or church records?
We can take you there and assist, but access depends on local opening hours, rules, and availability on the day.
Will we meet our relatives for sure?
We will do everything possible when relatives are still in the area, but we cannot guarantee a meeting.
How far can we go with our driver?
The quote covers 500 km total round-trip. If you want to go farther, there may be additional costs for gas and tolls—our office will advise.
What is the duration of the tour?
The duration is 8 hours, including pickup and drop-off at your hotel in Rome.
Is lunch included?
No. We can recommend a genuine trattoria/osteria (or you may be invited by relatives). Lunch cost is not included.
Is the itinerary flexible?
Yes, within reason and within the 8-hour duration. We’ll tailor the day to your priorities.
Are tips included?
No. Tips are not included and not obligatory. Guidelines: 10% good, 15% excellent, 20% exceptional service—please report any abuse.
Is this experience suitable for seniors?
Often yes, but village terrain can involve steps and uneven streets. Tell us your mobility needs and we’ll plan accordingly.
What should we wear?
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Bring layers and rain protection depending on the season.
Can we add extra hours?
Yes, if the driver is available. Please request this in advance so we can confirm and quote it.
What if the archives are closed?
We’ll adjust the day to focus on village exploration, local history, meaningful family locations, and other available resources.
Do you offer this tour outside Rome?
This page is for pickup from Rome. If you’re staying elsewhere, contact us and we’ll advise feasibility.
There
will be a full charge for bookings canceled with less than 72-hour notice for
any service required, and for no-shows.
If the ship does not make it to the pier for bad weather, no charge will be
made (except any pre-purchased tickets, if requested).
Only pre-purchased skip-the-line tickets (if requested) are not refundable and
will be charged.
