What to
expect from your driver on a private day trip or shore excursion
Our drivers provide commentary from inside the vehicle about the major
highlights you will see. They are not licensed guides on foot and cannot
accompany you inside sites. Your driver will handle logistics, timing, and
smooth drop-offs/pick-ups so you can enjoy each stop without stress. Licensed
guides can be arranged on request.
Is this a private shore excursion from Trapani Port (or will we be in a group)?
This is a private tour, only for your party. You won’t be combined with other travelers, so the pace is yours. If you’d like to reduce the cost, you’re welcome to find friends or travel companions to share the tour with—just let us know the final group size.
How far is Segesta from Trapani Port, and how long is the drive?
Segesta is reached by a scenic drive through the interior of western Sicily. Drive times can vary depending on traffic and your ship’s docking schedule, but we plan the timing carefully so you can enjoy the site without feeling rushed and still return to the port comfortably.
What will we actually see at Segesta (and is it worth it)?
Segesta is one of the most impressive ancient sites in western Sicily. Most guests come for the beautifully preserved Doric temple and the Greek theater with panoramic views. Even if you’re not a “history person,” it’s a very photogenic stop and feels special because of the landscape and the atmosphere.
How much walking is involved at Segesta and Erice? Is it hard?
Expect moderate walking. Segesta and Erice both involve uneven surfaces and some steps. Many guests do great with comfortable shoes and a steady pace. If anyone in your group has mobility concerns, tell us in advance and we’ll help plan the easiest approach and best timing.
Is Erice usually foggy, and what happens if the weather is cloudy?
Erice can be misty (it’s part of the charm), but even on cloudy days it’s still a beautiful medieval town to explore for its streets, churches, and pastry shops. If visibility is limited, we simply focus more on the town experience—shops, viewpoints when possible, and the Castle of Venus area—so the stop still feels worthwhile.
Are entrance tickets included for Segesta (and do we need to buy them in advance)?
Entrance fees are not included. In busy periods, buying tickets in advance can help reduce waiting time. If you’d like, tell us your travel date and we’ll advise the best approach so your day stays smooth.
Is the driver also a guide? Will we get explanations at the sites?
Your driver is an English-speaking professional and can share an overview and helpful context from inside the vehicle. Due to Italian regulations, drivers are not licensed guides on foot and cannot guide inside the sites. If you want a deeper guided visit (especially for Segesta), we can arrange a licensed guide on request.
Does the driver go with us inside the monuments?
No. The driver will drop you off close to the entrances and coordinate pick-up times, but only licensed guides are authorized to accompany guests inside monuments and archaeological areas.
Do you guarantee we’ll be back at the ship on time?
Yes—this is one of the main priorities of a shore excursion. We plan the itinerary around your ship’s schedule and keep an eye on timing throughout the day. In almost 30 years of service, the goal is always the same: a great day out, with a calm, on-time return.
