We had just one day in Rome to see the Vatican, Colliseum, and other must-visit spots in Rome. Our driver met us at our cruise ship's port with our name on a sign - super easy to get our day started. My family of 3 headed to a beautiful sprinter van all to ourselves with our perfect English-speaking driver Alessandro. We first headed to the Vatican and he explained a lot about what we would see and important things to know about Rome in general. At the Vatican he coordinated to meet up with our private tour guide Azurra and that began our magical private tour of the Vatican! It was so easy having everything pointed out to us and explained -things we never would have deciphered for ourselves. She had a bag with color photos she whipped out to show us up close what we would be seeing on the ceiling and interesting stories about Michaelangelo and his paintings and life. She took photos with our phone at coordinated spots that made the shots interesting!
After our morning in the Vatican she coordinated to meet up with Allesandro again and we opted for a quick lunch instead of sit-down so we could see more of Rome. He took us to this authentic pizza and sandwich take away lunch and suggested what to get and helped us order. He insisted that we try their famous rice balls as part of our order which were delicious! Their cinnamon biscuits (like mini biscotti) were also delicious. We stopped for a quick espresso after
