Trip to Assisi.

Having spent time in Rome we decided to have a day out and visit the historic town of Assisi knowing that this was the home of Saint Francis one of the few saints I could remember anything about from my youth. The Journey out through the countryside of Umbria was breathtaking once we left the confines of Romy shopping, it's an area of Italy that one day I would love to come back to and explore. Our driver was very knowledgeable not just with dry facts but about the whole lifestyle of the region, and despite our very poor Italian, we had a very good time as he spoke well in English. Assisi lives up to its reputation and more the Basilica was outstanding and was followed by exceptional shopping.
