Day 1 - Transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo and Visit of the Shrine
of Padre Pio
Meet your driver at your hotel in Rome and set out for an
amazing journey that will take you through the spectacular countryside of
Southern Italy crossing the regions of Lazio, Abruzzo, and Puglia. The first
stop will be the shrine of Padre Pio, one of Italy's most Sacred Catholic
Pilgrimage sites. Executed in simple wood and local stone as a reminder of the
saint's simplicity, the Padre Pio Pilgrimage Shrine has been described
as the second-largest in the world after St. Peter's
Basilica in Rome, seating 8,000 people, with room for 30,000 standing on the
parvis outside. People from all around the world gather in prayer in front of
the Saint's body to ask for blessings and miracles.
The day will end with a transfer to your accommodation in town.
Today your driver will pick you up at your accommodation and
take you to the Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo, the oldest shrine in Western
Europe dedicated to the archangel Michael. Dating back to the 5th - 6th
centuries it is the site where the devotion to the Archangel Michael began. The
original grotto of San Michele is said to have been consecrated by the
archangel and is the only church not consecrated by human hands. The Lombards,
who at that time dominated in Southern Italy, made it their national shrine and
it quickly became renowned throughout Christianity and a destination, not only
for pilgrims from all over Europe, but also for the Crusaders departing for
Jerusalem, for Popes and Kings.
After the visit, head back to your accommodation in Rome for a
roughly 4.5 hours drive.

2. Does the driver go with us inside the monuments?
No, only a licensed guide is authorized to accompany you during the visit of sights. Our driver will drop you off close to the sights but will stay with the vehicle for the duration of your visit.

The package includes transportation by an English-speaking driver for both days, driver's boarding, gas tolls and parking fees.
4. What are the exclusions of this package?
Lunch, admission fees, lodging and tips are not included.
5. What is the itinerary of the package tour?
The highlights of this tour include a transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo and visit of the Shrine of Padre Pio, visit of the Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo and transfer to Rome.
6. If we arrive by air, can we be picked up at the airport?
Yes, we can pick you up at the airport. There will be no extra charge.
7. Do you book hotel accommodations?
We do not handle hotel accommodations. We can help you with recommendations if needed.
There will be a full charge for bookings canceled with less than 72-hour notice for any service required. In this case, a full charge will be made on your credit card. If you miss your flight or if your airline decides to cancel the flight due to bad weather or if your flight is directed to another airport on arrival, please advise us on time (as soon as you know) or a full charge will be made.
Please give us enough time so we can accept other reservations and allocate them to our chauffeurs. If the ship does not make it to the pier for bad weather, you will not be considered responsible so NO CHARGE will be made to your credit card. A full charge will be made for a no-show-up.
