Duration : 8 Hours
Rome is more than just history and what the art books tell us -- it can be fun for the whole family if you know where to look! Our energetic driver-guides will keep both children and adults entertained on this day trip with a private chauffeur.
Our kid-friendly tour features the best child-oriented sites in Rome and
the Vatican.
This tour is highly customizable. To follow is a suggested itinerary. At the end, some alternatives
are listed.
CLIMB THE DOME OF ST. PETER’S BASILICA
Get your glutes ready! Our first stop will be St. Peter's Basilica where
you will be able to climb Michelangelo's famous dome. After ascending the 551
steps to the top you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Rome and the
Vatican. If you prefer the “easy” way, then climb “only” 320 steps and
take the elevator to the top. Either way,
it will be a challenging but unforgettable experience.
EXPLORE SANT’ANGELO CASTLE (closed Mondays)
Sant'Angelo Castle is a place of mystery and intrigue, and
one of the coolest museums for kids in Rome. Originally built (almost 2000
years ago) as a mausoleum for the emperor Hadrian, this castle has served over
the centuries as a fortress, prison, and safe-house for the Pope. Kids and
grownups will enjoy the 58 splendid rooms, ramparts, cannons, and
terraces. Where there was once the moat is now a wonderful park with play
equipment for younger children.
THROW A COIN INTO TREVI FOUNTAIN
A must on any trip to Rome is the Trevi fountain, the largest and most
famous Baroque fountain in the city. They say that throwing a coin over your
shoulder into the fountain will guarantee your return to Rome, and when you
visit Trevi you will see the ritual that it has become among visitors. So,
go on, be a super-geeky tourist and join the coin-tossing fun!
MARK HIGH NOON WITH A CANNON SHOT
If it is almost noon, you'd better hurry to the Janiculum Hill to
witness the 19th-century tradition of a single cannon shot to mark midday.
Besides a stunning view of Rome's ancient landmarks, Janiculum gives you a quick and slightly more modern history lesson on the Italian Risorgimento, the
19th-century movement (and wars) that unified modern Italy. On weekends, from
10:30 until noon and 5 until 7, you may enjoy one of the few remaining open-air
puppet shows in the city.
GET YOUR HAND “BITTEN OFF” AT THE MOUTH OF TRUTH
Grown-ups may remember the Mouth of Truth from the movie “Roman Holiday” with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. We’ll make just
a quick Kodak-stop at the Mouth of Truth, where kids will be gleefully
terrified, parents will have a mischievous look, and goofy photos are sure to
be taken, all because of an ancient tradition that transformed a manhole cover
into a lie detector.
TAKE A TRIP TO ANCIENT ROME A TIME MACHINE
Want to see how Rome looked thousands of years ago? Then take a
trip back in time in the Time Elevator. Presented on a huge panoramic screen with amazing
audio, visual and motion effects, The History of Rome takes you on a 40-minute
journey through 3000 years of Roman history. from the founding of city by
Remus and Romulus to the assassination of Julius Caesar to the gladiator fights
in the Colosseum to the Renaissance and Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel
and ending with Italy's modern history.
TASTE-TEST SOME GELATO
Taste what?? What is gelato? It’s frozen fish, of
course. KIDDING! Gelato is Italian
ice cream, and it's super-duper yummy. Your day in Rome will not be
complete until you have tasted some gelato, and we know the best place.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING TICKETS:
Please be aware that tickets are guaranteed only when booked.

The Vatican opens availability 2 months ahead the selected date and the Colosseum opens availability one month ahead. We will do our very best to get the admission tickets for you but if by this time we are not able to secure tickets, then those are not guaranteed.
We will have to relay to other suppliers but it’s not guaranteed.
You will be notified in case of lack of unavailability and offered an alternative solution for you to still have a wonderful experience during your visit; for example at the Colosseum, you may decide to only see the Roman Forum which is another good attraction and instead of the Vatican we can take you to see other beautiful churches in Rome.
We will be able to provide a certain answer regarding availability 7 weeks ahead for the Vatican and 4 weeks ahead for the Colosseum, in refer to the selected date of your tour.
You will be then free to decide how to move forward with your tour, of course.

Thank you very much for understanding.
1. Is this tour private?
The tour is private, just for your party.
2. Is the driver also a guide?
Our English-speaking drivers are NOT licensed guides. In order to provide you with the best-in-class service, our English-speaking driving guides have been trained to offer our clients a nice overview with information regarding the major highlights avoiding the expensive charges of hiring a private guide. Due to strict Italian laws & regulations that protect officially licensed guides, our driving guides can comment and explain the sights only from inside the vehicle but are not allowed to do so once they are outside the vehicle. They are regularly licensed instead to chauffeur the public. We highly recommend that you never book with any touring company that does not make this clear.
3. Does the driver go with us inside the monuments?
No, only a licensed guide is authorized to accompany you during the visit of sights. Our driver will drop you off close to the sights but will stay with the vehicle for the duration of your visit.
4. Does this tour include lunch and admission fees to sites?
No tickets or lunch are included in the rate. Please contact our office for pricing and reservations.
5. Does it include a guide?
No guide is included in the rate. If you would like to have a private guide to show you the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, please contact our office for pricing and reservations.
6. Is the itinerary flexible?
Our itineraries are completely flexible, and we will be happy to operate any changes to the original itinerary (within reason). Please contact our office with all the requests you may have so that we can better organize your day.
7. What is the duration of the tour? Can we extend the time upfront with the driver?
The duration of this service is 8 hours, including pickup and drop off at your hotel in Rome. If you would like to add extra hours to your tour, please contact our office so that we can check the driver's availability and advise the cost.
8. Is gratuity included in the price?
Tips are never included in our quotes. We think that a tip shouldn’t be included in the rate otherwise it would be a tax!!! Once in Italy do not feel as though you have to tip everyone because someone told you to. Tip only if you really liked the service. Tips are generally: 10% not bad 15 % great 20 % best tour in my life. Please report any abuse.
There will be a full charge for bookings canceled with less than 72-hour notice for any service required. In this case, a full charge will be made on your credit card. If you miss your flight or if your airline decides to cancel the flight due to bad weather or if your flight is directed to another airport on arrival, please advise us on time (as soon as you know) or a full charge will be made.
Please give us enough time so we can accept other reservations and allocate them to our chauffeurs. If the ship does not make it to the pier for bad weather, you will not be considered responsible so NO CHARGE will be made to your credit card. A full charge will be made for a no-show-up.
Only pre-purchased skip-the-line tickets (if requested) are not refundable under the circumstance and will be charged to your card.
