Shore excursions in Italy ,Daily Tours and guided Limousine services.
We had an awesome day with Claudio our driver. He collected us promptly and took care to find out what we expected to get from our trip and made sure that he exceeded these expectations. He called ahead to book a trusted private tour guide who was waiting for us on our arrival in Pompeii - he was fantastic! And then we drove on to Sorrento, stopping at various places on the Amalfie Coast to take photographs and then we had a late lunch in Il Positano, before returning to Rome. Travelling with two young daughters, it was a long day trip, but memorable - and we all thought it was our best day of our week-long holiday to Rome.

Alongside the Colosseum in Rome, the Leaning Tower of Pisa make the quintessential image of Italy. Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Rome and take on a comfortable and picturesque drive across the Etruscan countryside. Upon your arrival in Pisa you will be met by your private guide who will introduce you to one of the finest architectural complexes in the world.

Proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Campo dei Miracoli , or the Square of Miracles, has been at the center of the religious life in Pisa for centuries. The Cathedral, the Tower, the Baptistery and the Camposanto represent together the allegory of human life: birth, life and death.

Emblem of Pisan Romanesque architecture, the cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta was designed by the architect Buscheto in 1064 and shows, in its brightness, the influence of various styles and cultures: Byzantine but mostly Islamic components which testify to the power of the Maritime Republic of Pisa at that time. Standing to the west of the Duomo, the Baptistery is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and it is the largest in Italy. Its incredible architecture blends Romanesque and Gothic elements, and it took more than 200 years to complete. Just like everything else in the Square of Miracles the Baptistery too has a tilt in the direction of the Cathedral even though it is less obvious than that of the bell tower.

The tower was built between 1173 and the end of the 14th century. It took so long to build because it started to lean as soon as the third floor was completed. Construction had to be stopped and was resumed almost a century later. In fact, if you look closely at the tower, it is not a straight tower leaning, it is slightly curved, in the attempt to straighten it up and prevent its fall. In the past few years solidification works have been carried out and now the Leaning Tower of Pisa has lost some of its famous tilt. An annual report on the monument's stability has revealed that the tower had spontaneously recovered some of its vertical incline-straightening by 2.5 cm since 2001. The straightening is not a miracle, but the long term effect of an 11-year restoration project completed in 2001.

After several years during which it was not possible to climb to the top, the Leaning Tower has been reopened to people willing to climb up its 293 steps. Tickets can be booked online at (please check with our office so that we can advise the time).
