First off, let me say I was VERY hesitant about booking a private driver. We had never done that before and typically book our excursions through the cruise ships. Based on all of the reviews, I took a chance and am SO glad I did. The charming Damiano was there to pick us up as soon as we got off the cruise ship in Divitavecchia. We not only had a car, we had a van so plenty of space. We were in Europe during the recent heat wave so I was thrilled that the AC worked perfectly and an additional nice touch was that Damiano had cold waters in the back for us whenever we needed them. He took us to every place I had originally listed I wanted to visit and then some. He knew the right spots to go to get the best pictures and the best way to avoid the insane crowds. I thought Rome was absolutely nuts as far as crowds and congestion and having him there at every stop just made me feel a lot more secure plus so much less walking in all that heat - he was always close by. Damiano suggested a fantastic local, non-touristy restaurant where we ate lunch. As we drove he told us all about the history of the area and answered any questions we had. Let me tell you - it was LIGHTYEARS better than any cruise excursion I've done and costs less. Plus you aren't waiting on all the other people on your bus - you just get off and go when you need or want to. Communication with the company via email beforehand was excellent also. Take the chance and book a tour with this company.
