DESCRIPTION:
From the pier it will be a 45 minutes ride in a comfortable air-conditioned deluxe minivan or car, where time has stood since August 24 th, 79 AD.
The ruins of Pompei, located at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, have been perfectly preserved since the day that tons of ash and lava rained down upon the city, buring it 20 feet deep until excavations began in the 18 th century.
Learn about the excavation technique of pouring liquid plaster into the empty spaces to determine what the residents were doing at the time of the eruption and you'll gain an insight into the lives of ancient Romans as you discover baths, heaters, temples and markets.
The pathways are endless and the buildings fascinating.
Some of the recovered houses still contain the original marble decoration, well preserved frescoes and splendid mosaics.

NOTES:
- Duration: 4 hours.
- Exploration of Pompei is entirely on foot and involves about 2 hour walking .Low heeled comfortable shoes and a sun hat recommended.
- !! Keep an eye on your wallet and purses at all time. Do not wear jewerly or carry large amount of cash
- Pompeii is not wheel chair accessible.
