Sooner or later everyone crosses the river Tiber to enjoy an evening in the Trastevere area, which is what the name means in Italian. There are many bars, restaurants and nightclubs, although most people usually end up at one of the small cafes surrounding Piazza di Santa Maria.
During the day its a hangout for younger travelers, as well as businessmen stopping by for a leisurely lunch meeting.
