This is one of the most beautiful settings in the city. The main plaza is reached by a stairway designed by Michelangelo, and is flanked by the Marcus Aurelius equestrian statue and the Capitoline Museum. It's loaded with classic statues and architecture. A panoramic view of the Colosseum and Roman Forum can be seen from a terrace next to the Palazzo Senatorio. The area is flood lighted at night, making for a spectacular and memorable sight.
