| Colosseum |
The Colosseum is Rome’s number one visitor attraction. It is the ruins of a 2000 year-old ancient arena which saw bloody gladiator fights, battles with wild beasts and mock naval engagements on its flooded floor. Today the exterior is beautiful in the late afternoon light, especially when viewed through the nearby Arch of Constantine. |

| There can be very long ticket lines to see what's left of the Colosseum's interior. Visitors are able to stroll over the old floor, via newly constructed walkways, and see below where the gladiators lived and prepared for battle. |

| An excellent overall view can be enjoyed by hiking to the upper spectator levels. The Colosseum is also beautifully lighted at night, which is popular for tourists with cameras. | ![]() A wedding party is photographed at the Arch of Constantine |
